On Sunday, April 27th, I will be a guest artist at the marvelous 'heart of Chicago', The Chicago Temple, sharing 3 new creations there as a celebration of National Poetry Month and the Earth with seasonal themes of renewal:
- In Process, a short photographic and poetic meditation on Spring that will serve as an interlude of silent reflection
- Of Water, Born, my artistic and poetic response to a handbell piece called Watercolors
- A communal poem I will create and recite from words and phrases embodying renewal contributed by The Chicago Temple community, followed by a musical improvisation response to the poem by organist, Phillip Kloeckner
Experience the magic of playing with palette knife and other painting tools in a variety of mediums. This 2-hour workshop takes a relaxed approach to playing, experimenting and exploring through painting and sketching studies with guiding tips and some art history from me - JC Wayne, sustainable artist - along the way. Geared towards anyone who wants to have fun painting - whether you have never painted anything before or have years of experience & want to relax with other playful painters.

Golden Threads of Good Book Club is a refuge of inspiration for creatives and readers alike who could use a quarterly positive boost and space to spark their imaginations and sense of community. My guiding philosophy in hosting and curating the books for these quarterly gatherings in March, June, September and December is 'building loving worlds through loving words'. Every book I choose has some form of existential exploration, magic, wonder, connectivity, positive relationships and a belief in humanity's essential goodness and potential. Past books include: The City We Became by N.K. Jemison, The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow, Sourdough and Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan and The Watchmaker of Filigree Street and The Lost Future of Pepperharrow by Natasha Pulley.
